Friday Morning Update: 38 New COVID-19 Cases In Catawba, Two Deaths Reported In Burke

38 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed Thursday (July 30) in Catawba County, increasing the total to 1,863, with 27 deaths. Hospitalizations increased to 20, three more than the Wednesday (July 29) update.

Burke County Public Health was notified late Wednesday of the 27th and 28th COVID-19-associated deaths in Burke County. Both individuals were in their 80s and they were both hospitalized. One is reported to have had underlying medical conditions. The other is reported to have died from COVID-19-related complications.

30 new coronavirus cases were confirmed Thursday in Burke County, increasing the total to 1587. Seven People were hospitalized and at least 1,191 patients had recovered. There will be a drive-thru COVID-19 testing clinic at the Jonas Ridge Fire Department this upcoming Sunday (August 2) from 1-4 p.m. Testing is free but bring your insurance card if you have it. It is recommended that you call 828-764-9168 to pre-register, but drop-in patients will be tested.

23 new cases of COVID-19 were reported Thursday in Caldwell County, increasing the total to 1,071. There have been 12 coronavirus-associated deaths in Caldwell, and 19 people were hospitalized. At least 477 patients had recovered.
