Friday Morning COVID-19 Update: New Cases Reported In All Four Hickory Metro Counties, Death Reported In Catawba

A COVID-19-associated death was reported Thursday (November 19) by Catawba County Public Health, increasing the overall total to 82. In addition, 101 new cases of the coronavirus were confirmed Thursday in Catawba County, pushing the overall total past 6,000 to 6,092 since the start of the pandemic. Hospitalizations increased by one to 53.

The Alexander County Health Department reported 1,373 total confirmed cases of the virus on Thursday, that’s an increase of 156 since the last update. There have been 13 COVID-19-related deaths in Alexander County since the start of the pandemic. There have been 180 confirmed infections at the Alexander Correctional Institution with 50 active cases as of Thursday.

62 COVID-19 cases were added to Caldwell County’s total Thursday, lifting the tally to 3,202, with 39 deaths. There were 25 Caldwell County residents in the hospital with COVID. 56 new cases of the coronavirus were reported Thursday in Burke County, raising the overall total to 3,734, with 65 deaths. Hospitalizations increased to 17 in Burke County. The state of North Carolina reported 4,296 new cases Thursday, the highest one-day total since the start of the pandemic.
