Friday Morning COVID-19 Update: New Cases In All Four Hickory Metro Counties Thursday, Deaths Reported In Alexander

106 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed Thursday (November 5) by Catawba County Public Health, raising the overall total to 4,986, with 67 deaths. 106 is the highest single-day total reported in Catawba County since the start of the pandemic. There were 45 people hospitalized Thursday, one more than officials reported on Wednesday (November 4).

Health officials in Alexander County Thursday reported two COVID-19-related deaths, increasing the total to 12. 35 new COVID-19 cases were reported Thursday by the Alexander County Health Department, raising the total to 1,008. 155 people were in quarantine with COVID-19, that total includes approximately 60 inmates at the Alexander Correctional Institution. There were 21 people hospitalized. Of the 1,008 total cases, at least 820 patients have recovered.

30 new cases of the coronavirus were reported Thursday in Burke County, lifting the overall count to 3,521, with 63 deaths. There were seven people hospitalized. 19 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed Thursday in Caldwell County, increasing the total to 2,727, with 33 deaths. There were 20 Caldwell County residents hospitalized with the virus.
