40 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed Thursday (October 8) in Catawba County, raising the total to 3,476, with 57 deaths. According to Catawba County Public Health, coronavirus hospitalizations increased to 32 Thursday, one more than Wednesday (October 7).
Burke County Public Health reported the 49th COVID-19 associated death in the county. The individual in their 70s was not hospitalized when they died from underlying medical conditions. 39 new cases of the coronavirus were reported Thursday in Burke County, increasing the overall total to 2,618. There were 11 people hospitalized with COVID in Burke County as of Thursday.
25 new cases of COVID-19 were reported Thursday in Alexander County, increasing the total to 575, with eight deaths. As of Thursday, 59 people were in quarantine with the coronavirus, and two people were in the hospital. Of the 575 total cases, 506 people had recovered.
24 COVID-19 cases were reported Thursday in Caldwell County, increasing the total to 1,897, with 29 deaths. There were 15 Caldwell County residents hospitalized. The Caldwell County Health Department reports that the cluster at Marx Industry is now closed. A cluster is defined as a minimum of five cases with illness onsets or initial positive results within a 14-day period and a plausible epidemiological link.
