Catawba County Public Health is investigating a newly identified outbreak of COVID-19 at Conover Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where two residents and one staff member have tested positive for the virus.
20 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed Thursday (September 3) by Catawba County Public Health. That increases the overall total to 2,688, with 48 deaths. There were 12 people hospitalized with the coronavirus in Catawba County, the same total as Wednesday (September 2).
Burke County Public Health reported the 36th COVID-19-associated death in the county on Thursday. The individual in their 80s was not hospitalized but did have underlying medical conditions. Nine new coronavirus cases were reported in Burke County Thursday, increasing the total to 2,077. There were seven people hospitalized with the coronavirus.
Caldwell County confirmed its 22nd COVID-19-related death Thursday. The patient, who was between the ages of 25 and 49, was reported to have underlying conditions. The Health Department also identified a COVID-19 cluster at Marx LLC in Hudson. Eight Caldwell County residents who work at the facility tested positive for COVID-19. A cluster is defined as a minimum of five cases with illness onset or initial positive results within a 14-day period and a plausible epidemiological linkage between cases.
Five new COVID-19 cases were confirmed Thursday in Caldwell County, increasing the total to 1,465. There were 19 people hospitalized. 15 new coronavirus cases were reported Thursday in Alexander County, increasing the total to 409, with three deaths.
