Friday Afternoon COVID-19 Update (Updated With Catawba County Numbers, 6:33 p.m., 11/27/20)

Two coronavirus-associated deaths were reported today (November 27) in Catawba County, raising the overall total to 95. In addition, 141 new cases of COVID-19 were reported today by Catawba County Public Health, increasing the total to 6,837. 58 people were hospitalized. 141 is the highest single-day total of new cases reported in the county and 58 is the largest number of people hospitalized in one day.

The Burke County Health Department COVID-19 update this afternoon stated that there were 4,110 positive cases of the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic. That total is an increase of 60 from the last update issued on the county’s dashboard this morning. There have been 67 virus-related deaths in Burke County and 20 people were hospitalized.

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services reported 3,834 new COVID-19 cases in the state today, after 4,174 were confirmed on Thanksgiving Day (November 26).
