STATESVILLE, N.C. (WHKY)  — Live music, food trucks and local vendors will take over a portion of downtown Statesville tonight, Friday, August 7th, during the After 5 concert series.

Wendy Wooten will open the evening from 5:45 until 6:15 p.m. with Southern rock, pop and country music. Better Than The Beatles will then perform rock-and-roll music through 8:30 p.m. Organizers say the group is not a Beatles tribute band.

The free event will be held on Broad Street in front of Mitchell Community College. Food, beer and wine vendors will operate from 5:30 until 8:30 p.m.

A Makers Market will feature local vendors, handmade products and other items. Food trucks will also be stationed at the event, with vendors accepting cash or cards.

Adults purchasing alcoholic beverages must obtain a wristband at the identification tent near Kelly Street. Those attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

Friday After 5 is organized by the Greater Statesville Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Statesville Development Corporation.
