Four L-R Cross Country Members Named to All-Region Team

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced their All-Region teams on Wednesday. Lenoir-Rhyne’s Paige Ewald, Janet Kwambai, and Kathrin Polke each garner All-Region honors for the 2022 season.

Ewald, a junior from Woodstock GA., earned her first all-region honors as Ewald wa selected to third-team all-conference with her 20th place finished than few weeks later placed 21st in NCAA regionals

Polke, a senior from Mistelbach, Austria, also earned her first all-region honors as the senior had a 11th place finished in this year SAC Championship was helped her gather a second team all-conference selection. Polke than finished her season with a 24th place finish in the NCAA regionals.

Kwambai, a senior from Iten, Kenya, was picked up her second all-region honors as Kwambai finished second at both the SAC Championship and the NCAA regionals this season. Kwambai will be heading to Tacoma Washington for the NCAA Championship this Friday December 2nd. Kwambai will be looking for back-to-back All-American honors after a 27th place finish a year ago.

On the men’s side, Jacob Parkinson earned his first All-region honors as the sophomore was named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-region team on Wednesday. Parkinson was one of fifteen SAC runners to be selected this season.

Parkinson has an impressive season for the Bears as the sophomore won two events this year. Parkinson opened his season with a first place at the Queen City Invite on September 23th. Less than a month later, Parkinson ran the third fastest time (24:53) in program history with his win at the JWC Classic.

Parkinson continued his exceptional season with a 9th place finish at the SAC Championship, which helped him earned second team all-conference. Parkinson than completed his second year with a 23rd place finish at the NCAA regionals last weekend.
