CONOVER, N.C. (WHKY) – The City of Conover will celebrate a milestone 150 years in the making with its Founder’s Day Festival on Friday, September 18, from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. at Conover City Park, located at 361 5th Avenue SE. The free, family friendly celebration is part of Conover’s yearlong 150th anniversary and will bring the community together for an evening of live music, food, drinks and a celebration of the city generations of residents have called home.

The evening will begin at 6:00 p.m. with music from DJ Moose Entertainment, followed by The Big 80’s Band from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. Food will be available from Dig’n Dogs, Wholey Cow, Village Inn Pizza, Thee Stuffed Waffle and Kona Ice, with beverages provided by 1877 Pub & Grub. Proceeds from the event will benefit the children and youth of Sipe’s Orchard Home.

Founder’s Day will also feature one of the most limited releases of the City’s Conover 150 Collection. A special Founder’s Day T shirt created specifically for the celebration will be available exclusively at the
event for $20. Only 150 shirts were printed. They will not be presold, sold online, reprinted or offered again after Founder’s Day. Sales start at 7 p.m. Once they are gone, they are gone. The exclusive shirt is part of the City’s larger Conover 150 Collection, a series of limited releases created to celebrate the people, places, businesses and stories that have shaped Conover since 1876.

Throughout 2026, Conover has marked its sesquicentennial by looking back at the community’s history while celebrating the city it has become today. Founder’s Day serves as one of the signature
events of the anniversary year and an opportunity for residents, families and visitors to celebrate that history together. Admission to Founder’s Day is free and open to the public.
