Former School System Employee Found Not Guilty In Assault Case
A former employee of Alexander County Schools has been acquitted in an assault case involving a student. In Alexander County Superior Court on Monday, 63-year-old Teresa Ellison Campbell was found not guilty of misdemeanor counts of assault on a child under 12-years-old and child abuse.
Campbell was accused of slapping a seven-year-old student while employed by the Alexander County School System. Alexander County Sheriff’s Office Deputies arrested Campbell after an the alleged incident in January. Shortly after the arrest, Alexander County Schools said she was no longer employed by the system.
Campbell, who was arrested on January 27, was listed in the school system staff directory as a teacher assistant at Ellendale Elementary School’s Exceptional Children program, prior to her name being removed.
