Foothills Folk Art Festival in Newton May 11

Join the Downtown Newton Development Association and Hickory Museum of Art on Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 10 AM to 4 PM for the 7th Annual Foothills Folk Art Festival in Downtown Newton. This family friendly festival, which is expected to draw thousands of visitors from throughout the region, will showcase a variety of local and regional contemporary folk artists – whose work will be for sale – as well as artist demos, hands-on art activities for kids, live music, food from area restaurants and food truck vendors, a beer garden, and more!

The Foothills Folk Art Festival’s roots date back to 2005 when the Hickory Museum of Art presented its first folk art festival as part of a series of exhibitions, publications and related programming, following the accession of 153 folk art objects from the collection of Barry and Allen Huffman of Hickory. Over the years, the festival has been held at different locations in Hickory and Sherrills Ford. Since 2016, the festival has been held in in Downtown Newton. Festival day is the second Saturday in May. Complete information about the festival—including a list of artists and representative photos of the art they plan to bring to the festival, a schedule of the day’s musical performances, food trucks expected to be present, answers to frequently asked questions, and opportunities to volunteer and sponsor—may be found at www.foothillsfolkartfestival.com.
