Florida Resident Charged In Iredell County Stolen Vehicle Case

31-year-old Gerald Deon Pendergrass of Lauderhill, Florida, was arrested Monday (March 11) by Mooresville Police Officers. He’s charged with felony counts of possession of a stolen motor vehicle and flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle along with counts of hit and run, resisting a public officer, no operators license, breaking and entering, driving while impaired. He’s also charged with two counts with being a fugitive from justice.

Just after 3 p.m. Monday, Mooresville Police Officers responded to the area of Williamson Road and Brawley School Road. They responded following an automatic license plate reader (ALPR) hit of a vehicle reported stolen from Denver, Colorado.

Upon arrival, Officers found the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and fled westbound on Brawley School Road. In an attempt to apprehend the driver, Mooresville Police and the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office successfully deployed stop sticks on Brawley School Road in the area of Attleboro Place and The Point Drive.

The vehicle pursuit ended when the suspect vehicle became disabled in the area of Old Post Road and Moors End Loop. The suspect then fled on foot into the neighborhood but was successfully tracked by a K9 team. With the assistance of residents and multiple law enforcement officers in the area, the suspect, Pendergrass, was taken into custody without further incident.

Pendergrass is also wanted in both Florida and Georgia. Pendergrass was placed in the Iredell County Detention Center where he remained as of earlier today (March 13) under $160,000 secured. No court date was listed. Mooresville Police were assisted by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
