Fire Hydrant Testing Planned In Morganton

The City of Morganton will be testing fire hydrant flow around the city over a period of 12 days late this month into the second week of August. Water pressure at locations around each fire hydrant may experience discoloration.

The flow testing will start on July 28 and will be dependent on weather and calls for service. The flow testing requires a large quantity of water and may disturb sediment that has settled in the City’s water lines. Residents and business owners who notice a discoloration in their water supply should allow an outdoor faucet to run until the water becomes clear again.

Flow testing will occur in the following areas. July 28 at the Case Farms grid. July 29 on Erwin, North King and Concord Streets. July 30 on West Concord, New and Cox Streets along with West Fleming Drive. July 31 on Ceramic Tile Drive, Causby Road and Highway 70 west.

August 1 on Reep Drive, Industrial Boulevard and Elm Street. August 2 on Old Hushpuppy Avenue and Jamestown Road to the interstate intersection. August 3 on Whitley Road and Carbon City Road near Sheetz. August 4 on Airpark Drive, Carbon City Road, and Golf Course Road.

August 5 at the Morganton Heights Complex. August 6 at Freedom Park, Highway 126 and North Green Street. August 7 on Bost Road, Camelot Drive and St. Mary’s Church Road. And August 8 on Lost Corners Road, Bost Road and VFW Road.
