Felony Drug Charges Filed In Iredell County Case

35-year-old Xavier Antwone Blackwood was arrested by Mooresville Police Officers. He’s charged in Iredell County with felony trafficking, opium or heroin, two felony counts of manufacture, sell, deliver, or possess controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a park, and single misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana up to one-half ounce, possession of marijuana paraphernalia and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On November 1, 2023, the Concord Police Department requested assistance from Mooresville Police Department Detectives in their efforts to find Xavier Antwone Blackwood who had outstanding warrants from Concord Police for trafficking fentanyl and manufacturing a controlled substance.

Mooresville Police Detectives found Blackwood at an address on East McLelland Avenue and took him into custody without incident on November 1. At the time of his arrest, Blackwood was reportedly found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana and quantity of unknown powder-type substances. Blackwood was turned over to Concord Police and the items recovered during the arrest were placed into evidence at the Mooresville Police Department. The unknown substances were sent to a lab for analysis, and the results came back as fentanyl (more than four grams) and cocaine.

On November 21, Mooresville Detectives obtained a warrant for the arrest of Blackwood on the previously mentioned charges. According to Mooresville Police, Blackwood has an extensive criminal history including convictions for attempted trafficking in opium or heroin, possession with intent to sell schedule II controlled substance and four counts of felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

On November 26, the warrant was served on Blackwood by the Cabarrus County Sheriff Department. Blackwood was released on a $500,000 unsecured bond. He has an Iredell County District Court date December 19.
