RONDA, N.C. (WHKY) — A Thomasville man was killed Sunday afternoon after a motorcycle crashed along U.S. 421 South in Wilkes County.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the crash happened at approximately 2:30 p.m. near Clingman Road in the Ronda community.

Troopers say a Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling south on U.S. 421 when it left the roadway to the right and struck a guardrail.

The rider, identified as 58-year-old Todd Galloway of Thomasville, suffered critical injuries and died while being transported to a hospital by EMS.

Investigators say no other vehicles were involved in the crash. Speed and impairment are not believed to have been contributing factors.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol continues to investigate.
