A fatal crash shut down part of Conover Boulevard West in Catawba County Monday afternoon (June 1).

According to published reports, two people were killed after a vehicle struck the train overpass bridge near the U.S. 70 crossings.

Conover Police say the crash involved a single vehicle. The collision was reported shortly before 2:30 p.m.

Authorities said Conover Boulevard West was closed as of 4 p.m. and was shut down for several hours while the investigation continued. No additional details about the cause of the collision have been released.
