Teenager Byron Watson can’t seem to stay out of trouble, so his parents decide it’s time for him to have a lengthy stay with strict Grandma Sands in Birmingham. Together with siblings Kenny and Joetta, the family heads south. Blending moments of humor and despair, this story culminates in a horrific moment in American history, giving insight into growing up as a young black in the 1960’s.
