35-year-old Joshua Lynn Whitmire of Highway 70 East in Catawba was arrested Sunday (February 5) by Catawba County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with two felony counts of trafficking in methamphetamine, single felony counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver schedule III controlled substance, and maintaining a place for controlled substance. Whitmire was also charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and traffic offenses. Probation and Parole also charged Whitmire with parole violation.

Whitmire is on parole as a result of convictions in Catawba County in April of 2019 and December of 2021 on felony counts of possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of schedule II controlled substance. He was released from custody in June, 2022 and his parole end date was scheduled for March 10, 2023. Following Sunday’s arrest, Whitmire was jailed in the Catawba County Detention Facility under $85,000 bond. A District Court date was scheduled Monday (February 6).
