Early voting is underway in Catawba County. Voters can cast ballots in six municipalities and two school systems. Brookford, Catawba, Claremont, Conover, Newton, and Maiden all have seats being contested.
There are also seats up for grabs in the Hickory school system, in Wards 1, 2, 3 and 5. In the Newton-Conover school system there are three seats on the ballot, two Newton district seats and one Conover seat.
City and town elections in the county are all at-large, all seats can be voted on by all residents regardless of where they live in that municipality. As far as the school board seats are concerned, residents must live within the district with a seat up for election in order to vote.
All voters casting ballots during early voting will do so at the Catawba County Library in Newton, regardless of address. Early voting is underway and will run until Saturday, October 30. Election Day is Tuesday, November 2. Get much more on early voting and elections in general at www.catawbacountync.gov and go to elections.
