Drugs Seized, Suspect Jailed Under 300K Bond

18-year-old Madison Santana of Troutman was arrested Saturday (April 27) by Troutman Police Officers. She’s charged with felony counts of possession of schedule I controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell or deliver schedule I controlled substance, and trafficking opium or heroin by possession and transport. She’s also charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

On Saturday, at approximately 5:05 p.m. officers conducted a traffic stop of a Ford truck occupied by three people for a traffic violation in the 100 block of South Main Street. During the stop one of the passengers, Madison Santana, reportedly threw a backpack out of the vehicle where it landed underneath the truck.

Officers saw this, and upon searching the backpack found 33 blue tablets that tested positive for fentanyl, 2.08 grams of a powdered substance that tested positive for fentanyl, 9.78 ounces of THC wax, and 4.46 ounces of marijuana.

Santana admitted to officers that the backpack belonged to her and was placed under arrest. She was taken before a magistrate where she was ordered to be held on a $300,000 secured bond. A District Court date is scheduled for May 15.
