Drugs Seized Following Traffic Stop, Charges Filed

63-year-old Robert Alan Foster of Fisher Davis Road in Morganton was arrested Thursday (April 11) by Morganton Public Safety Officers. He’s charged with felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver schedule II controlled substance along with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and stop sign or flashing red light violation.

Shortly after 1 a.m. Thursday a Public Safety Officer conducted a traffic stop on a red 2007 Toyota Corolla, after seeing that vehicle run a red light on South Sterling Street. The officer came into contact with the vehicle’s two occupants, including the driver, Robert Alan Foster.

Upon making contact with the suspect, the officer developed reasonable suspicion due to an individual in the vehicle being on probation. This resulted in a search. During this search, the officer found several empty wrappers of suboxone which were not in a prescription bottle, a meth pipe, a set of digital scales, and a small plastic baggie that contained methamphetamine.

Upon searching Foster, the officer found a prescription bottle that contained a large baggie of meth and $1,528 in cash. Police reportedly seized a total of 19 grams of meth. Foster was brought the Burke County Jail under $10,000 secured bond. A Friday (April 12) court date was scheduled.
