NEWTON, N.C. (WHKY) – A Conover woman was arrested by authorities in Catawba County on drug charges.

34-year-old Melinda Cobie Carpenter of E and K Drive was charged with felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Following the Friday (July 17) arrest, Carpenter was placed in the Catawba County Detention Facility under a total bond of $6,000. She was scheduled to make a first court appearance Friday in Catawba County District Court.
