Drug Charges Filed Following Traffic Stop

28-year-old Callie Elizabeth Carswell of Morris Loop in Morganton was arrested last Thursday (January 11) by Morganton Public Safety Officers. She’s charged with felony counts of possession of methamphetamine and possession of schedule II controlled substance.

Shortly before midnight last Thursday night a Public Safety Officer responded to a vehicle stop on Bost Road at Council Oaks Road. They were called to the scene to assist another officer. During the investigation, police seized .5 grams of methamphetamine and .5 grams of fentanyl along with additional drugs which are listed as unknown.

According to the North Carolina Department Of Adult Correction Offender Public Information website, Callie Elizabeth Carswell has one listed conviction. In March of 2020, Carswell was convicted in Burke County on charges including felony counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and obtaining property by false pretense.

Carswell was incarcerated in the Burke County Jail under $10,000 secured bond. She was not listed as an inmate as of earlier today (January 16). Carswell’s next District Court date is scheduled for February 2 in Morganton.
