Drug, Break-in Charges Filed In Burke County Case

43-year-old Yasmin Velasquez Hernandez, who is listed as a homeless person from Morganton was arrested Tuesday (March 12) by Morganton Public Safety Officers. She’s charged with felony possession of schedule II controlled substance (methamphetamine) and misdemeanor breaking and entering to a building. 

At 1 p.m. Tuesday, a Public Safety Officer responded to an address on Conley Street in reference to a trespassing complaint. When the officer arrived, the property owner said he had been told there were people staying inside the vacant residence. The officer entered and searched the home and found Velasquez-Hernandez asleep on a bed inside.

She was taken into custody and brought to the Burke County Jail and incarcerated under $5,000 secured bond. A District Court appearance is scheduled March 25.
