The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating an incident this morning in Caldwell County during which a man was hit and killed by a minivan after he tried to run from the scene of a crash.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, a man driving a pickup truck rear-ended another vehicle at approximately 5:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Highway 321, near Mission Road, just south of Hudson.
That driver then got out of his truck and ran across the highway, where he was hit by a minivan in the southbound lanes. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The man’s name has not yet been released. Charges are reportedly not likely to be filed.
