Dog Killed In Hickory Mobile Home Fire

Shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday (February 25), Hickory firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire in the area of 620 17th Street Drive NW. While driving to the scene, firefighters reported seeing large amounts of smoke.

On arrival, they found fire coming from the roof of the mobile home. Firefighters worked to search for any occupants and to extinguish the fire. During their search, firefighters found a dog inside the residence. The dog did not survive. The fire was under control by 3:07 p.m. No other injuries were reported.

The Hickory Fire Department responded with two engines, one ladder, one rescue truck, and two command units. Hickory Police and Catawba County EMS also responded to the incident. The Red Cross also responded to the incident and will be assisting the occupants. Fire Investigators determined the cause of the fire to be electrical.
