HICKORY, N.C. (WHKY) — Families looking for something fun and educational this weekend can travel back millions of years at the Catawba Science Center in downtown Hickory.

The Science Center, located at 243 Third Avenue Northeast, is featuring its popular full-dome planetarium show, “Dinosaurs: A Story of Survival,” on Saturday, July 25, at 11 a.m. and again on Sunday, July 26, at 2 p.m. The approximately 30-minute presentation follows a young explorer named Celeste and her guide, Moon, as they journey through the Mesozoic Era, introducing audiences to a wide variety of dinosaurs while explaining how many species eventually evolved into today’s birds.

The show is presented inside the Millholland Planetarium using immersive full-dome projection technology. Seating is limited to 65 guests and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Planetarium admission is included with general admission to the Science Center, allowing visitors to also explore interactive science exhibits, the aquarium, nature displays and other hands-on activities throughout the facility.

The Catawba Science Center is open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturdays and noon until 4 p.m. on Sundays. Additional information, admission prices and tickets are available at the Science Center or online at its website.
