Deputy Injured After Early Morning Chase With Suspect

An Alexander County Sheriff’s Deputy was injured when he was struck by a vehicle following a chase this morning (December 17). Sheriff Chris Bowman says a suspect vehicle ran a red light at a high rate of speed in Taylorsville this morning around 2:30. Taylorsville Police and Alexander County Sheriff’s Deputies pursued the vehicle on US 64-90 west.

The vehicle continued at high speed to Highway 127 and Antioch Church Road. The suspect stopped on Antioch Church Road after reportedly striking two Alexander County Sheriff’s Office patrol cars. A deputy was struck by the suspect vehicle and suffered non life-threatening injuries according to Sheriff Bowman.

Multiple shots were fired by both officers and the suspect. A suspect was in custody as of this morning, no other details were available.
