Denver Man Charged in Connection with Vehicle Break-Ins

45-year-old Benjamin Michael Yates of Lucky Creek Lane in Denver has been arrested on multiple felony counts of breaking & entering to a motor vehicle and larceny of a firearm, along with single counts of possession of a stolen firearm and carrying a concealed weapon.

On the evening of June 21, multiple vehicles were broken into in the Cherry Point Drive area of Denver. Numerous items, including two firearms, were stolen from unlocked vehicles. The victims filed reports with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

On the evening of June 22, Deputies responded to Lobster Dogs in Denver in reference to a subject with a gun. Upon arrival, Deputies made contact with Benjamin Michael Yates, who was in possession of a firearm. A records check showed that the firearm had been stolen during the vehicle break-ins the previous evening. Yates was arrested and charged with the stolen firearm and concealed weapon counts. He received a $10,000 secured bond on those charges.

Later, Detectives and Deputies executed a search warrant at Yates’ residence. Officers found the other stolen firearm and several other items that reportedly linked Yates to the June 21 vehicle break-ins.

At that time, the B&E and larceny charges were filed. Yates was given an additional $25,000 secured bond. He will next appear in District Court on July 15.
