The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office reports the discovery of a body. On Wednesday (January 11), a motorist alerted area deputies to the presence of a deceased person in a wood line near the intersection of Plateau Road and Tradewinds Street. Deputies traveled to that location and found the body of a deceased female.

The individual found appears to be a middle-aged Caucasian female with dark colored hair. There was not any identification present with the body. Deputies and investigators are working to learn the victim’s identity and to establish a cause of death. An autopsy will be performed.
