Monday (June 26), the Burke County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on McDowell Church Road in reference to a disturbance with shots fired. When Deputies arrived, they found 39-year-old Keith Edward May of the residence suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. May was pronounced deceased at the scene by Burke County E.M.S.

The Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division responded and processed the scene. At this time, the investigation is pending review from the District Attorney’s Office. No further details are currently available.
