Catawna Valley Community College’s Grace Nelson was named the NJCAA Division 2 National Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for matches played October 12-18.
In five matches played, the outside hitter had 104 digs for the Red Hawks. This comes off the hills of her season high of 42 digs on October 10 against Davidson-Davie Community College. Those 42 digs was good for third all time in a match, with the high being 48 set by Emily Williams against Pasco-Hernando State set in October of 2017. Hannah Lewis had 44 digs in a match against Wake Tech Community College in September 2012.
For the season, Nelson has 311 digs, good for an average of 5.10 digs per set, which leads the CVCC team in their first 16 matches of the season.
