CVCC Women’s Basketball Wins Showdown With Caldwell

Catawba Valley Community College women’s basketball team defeated Caldwell Community College 70-56 Tuesday.

Catawba Valley Community College was led by reigning National Junior College Athletic Association’s reigning player of the week, Kelis Carmon who 15 points. Kenzley Dunlap and Camari Jeter each had 12 points.

Also scoring for the Red Hawks were AJ Davis and Ariana Montgomery each scored eight, Tre’zha Muhammad had seven, Essence Summer had four and both Alexandria Barrino and MaKayla Weaver scored two points.

Caldwell had three players scoring in double figures, led by Akira Jenkins with 13 points. Mikayla Hill would score 12, and Amaja Mack 11.

The rest of the Cobras scoring were by Paola Martinez with nine points, Pasiko Gvichiani with five and Nikya Lynch and Amiya Randles both had three points.

Caldwell’s final game of the regular season is Saturday at home vs. Denmark Tech at 3pm. Catawba Valley faces Brunswick at home on Sunday at 1pm
