CVCC to Host NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Basketball Championship

The 2021 NJCAA DII Women’s Basketball Championship, originally scheduled to be held at the SC4 Fieldhouse in Port Huron, MI, has been relocated to Catawba Valley Community College in Hickory, NC. The dates and game times will remain unchanged, with the five-day event being held April 20-24 at Catawba Valley’s Tarlton Complex.

The decision comes following a significant, recent rise in COVID-19 cases in Michigan and the areas surrounding Port Huron. St. Clair County and St. Clair County Community College (SC4) informed the NJCAA National Office on Monday, April 5, of a county-wide state of emergency due to rising COVID-19 cases. “While a late change in venue is not ideal, this difficult decision was made considering the current impact of the pandemic on St. Clair County and making sure our student-athletes have the opportunity to compete for a national championship this year,” stated Dr. Christopher Parker, NJCAA President & CEO. “The NJCAA is very thankful for all the work that has been done in preparation by SC4 and the surrounding community and I personally thank them for their due diligence in protecting everyone involved. We sincerely look forward to hosting the national championship at the SC4 Fieldhouse in March 2022.”

The NJCAA is working with Catawba Valley to finalize championship details and will communicate directly with each qualifying team to ensure the updated information is received. All NJCAA District Championship tournaments will be complete by Saturday, April 10 and the 2021 NJCAA DII Women’s Basketball Championship bracket will be released via the NJCAA DII Basketball Selection Show on Monday, April 12.
