Crawdads Drop Thursday Matchup With Greenville
The Hickory Crawdads’ three-game win streak was snapped on Thursday night, falling to the Greenville Drive 5-2.
Greenville scored three in the first inning, chasing Winston Santos out of the game. They added on another run in the fifth to take a 4-0 lead.
The Crawdads got a run back in the fifth inning. Yosy Galan and Ben Blackwell drew walks and Jayce Easley singled to load the bases. Daniel Mateo hit a sacrifice fly to core Galan and get the ‘Dads on the board.
Greenville pushed their lead back to four with a run in the seventh inning.
Abimelec Ortiz crushed a homerun to left to lead off the ninth to make it 5-2. The homer was Ortiz’s 23rd since joining the Crawdads, which leads the South Atlantic League.
Hickory is 33-17 on the second half of the season and 60-51 overall on the season. The Crawdads host Greenville through Sunday.
