Catawba County Public Health reported three COVID-19-related deaths yesterday (December 16), raising the total to 127 since the start of the pandemic. 106 new coronavirus cases were reported in Catawba County, increasing the total to 9,483. 92 Catawba County residents are in the hospital with COVID-19.
COVID-19 cases are up to a total of 5,205 in Burke County, an increase of 17 since the last report. The death toll in Burke remains unchanged at 75. 24 people are currently hospitalized with the virus in Burke County.
Caldwell County confirmed its 55th COVID-19-related death yesterday. The patient was between the ages of 65 and 74 and was reported to have underlying health conditions. 71 cases were reported Wednesday in Caldwell for a total of 4,605 since the start of the pandemic.
Yesterday, health officials in Caldwell County incorrectly reported Koinonia Apartments as an outbreak. It should have been reported as a cluster. The cluster associated with the Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute Women’s Basketball Team and the outbreak at ComServ have been closed by the Caldwell County Health Department.
10 new cases have been reported in Alexander County. There have been 21 coronavirus-associated deaths in Alexander.
Statewide, 5,273 new cases of COVID-19 were reported for a total of 451,874 since the start of the pandemic. 5,979 people have died and 2,811 are in the hospital.
