COVID-19 Hospitalizations Continue To Decrease In Hickory Metro: Monday Morning Update

COVID-19 hospitalizations decreased in Catawba County over the weekend, falling from 55 on Friday (February 19) to 48 Sunday (February 21). New case counts continue to trend lower in recent weeks, there were 43 infections confirmed Sunday increasing the overall total to 16,847. Three coronvirus-associated deaths were confirmed over the weekend by Catawba County Public Health, raising the tally to 276.

Burke County Public Health reported the county’s 138th COVID-19 related death on Saturday (February 20). The individual was in their 80s and hospitalized. The most recent update from Burke County showed 9,332 cases overall with eight hospitalizations, one fewer than the previous update.

The last update from the Caldwell County Health Department Friday showed a total of 8,493 cases with 129 deaths. Hospitalizations fell to 17, the lowest since early November. According to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, seven new cases of COVID-19 were reported Sunday in Alexander County, increasing the total to 3,839, with 76 deaths. There were ten people hospitalized.
