Construction Scheduled To Start Today To Result In Closure Of Section Of Roadway

This week, a section of N.C. 182 will close between U.S. 274 and Shoal Road in Lincoln County. A news release from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) says this will allow contract crews to start a $2.2 million project to remove and replace the existing bridge over Indian Creek.

The contractor, Apple Tuck & Associates, Inc. of Rutherfordton, was scheduled to close the bridge today (July 10). The contract calls for the new bridge to open to traffic by mid-May 2024. Landscaping and vegetation establishment will continue through the fall of 2024.

During construction, a detour will send N.C. 182 drivers along Shoal Road, N.C. 27 and N.C. 274, returning to N.C. 182. Drivers should be mindful of crews working in this location and allow extra time to reach their destination.
