CONOVER, N.C. (WHKY) — A Conover woman has been arrested on multiple animal cruelty and abandonment charges.

According to Catawba County jail records, 24-year-old Makayla Dawn Butler of 5175 Hall Street in Conover was confined Sunday, September 21.

Butler is charged with four misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals and two counts of abandonment of an animal. The charges were filed by the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office.

Jail records list secured bonds of $1,000 and $10,000 in connection with two of the cruelty-to-animals charges.

Butler was scheduled to appear Monday, September 22, in Newton District Court.
