A man was killed in a Catawba County crash Saturday (April 1). The deceased is 59-year-old John Allen Martin of Conover.

On Saturday at approximately 4:30 a.m., the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to N.C. 150 near Island Ford Road.  A 2022 GMC Sierra was traveling west on N.C. 150, crossed the center line, ran off the road to the left, struck a fence, and then struck a tree. 

The driver of the Sierra, John Allen Martin, passed away as a result of his injuries at the scene. The driver was restrained by a seatbelt. The initial investigation does not indicate impairment to be a contributing factor.
