Conover Man Charged with Murder in Connection to Reported Stabbing In Hickory [UPDATED TO INCLUDE IDENTITY OF DECEASED 03:45 p.m.]

29-year-old Allan Anthony Little of Springs Road NE in Conover was arrested Monday (March 13) by Hickory Police Officers. He’s charged with murder. According to the Catawba County “Who’s In Jail” and the North Carolina Judicial Branch websites, Little is also charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

Little is charged in connection to an incident reported Monday at a location on Lenoir-Rhyne Boulevard in Hickory. According to reports, an individual was stabbed outside the New Season Hickory Metro Treatment Center. The victim was brought to the hospital and later passed away as a result of the injuries sustained in the incident. The deceased has been identified as 37-year-old Cory Andrew Hartness.

Little, who was initially charged with the assault count, was also charged with murder. According to the North Carolina Department Of Adult Correction Offender Public Information website, Little’s criminal history includes misdemeanor convictions in 2018 and 2019 in Catawba County.

Following Monday’s arrest, the suspect was placed in the Catawba County Detention Facility, where he remained as of earlier today (March 14). A District Court appearance was scheduled today.
