Conover Man Charged With Fentanyl Trafficking, Meth Possession
39-year-old Marcus Lane Chambers of Sipe Road in Conover was arrested Sunday (September 24) by Catawba County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with trafficking in fentanyl, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver schedule II narcotics, maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of manufacturing, selling, or delivering controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Chambers is also charged with felony probation violation.
Sunday at 11:00 p.m. deputies with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office assisted North Carolina Probation Officers with the search of a residence in the 1500 block of Sipe Road. During the search, deputies found and seized eight grams of fentanyl, .5 grams of meth, drug paraphernalia and $700 in U.S. currency.

Chambers is on probation as a result of a conviction in July of this year in Catawba County. He was convicted of felony counts of possession with intent to sell schedule II controlled substance and possession of schedule II controlled substance. The offenses were committed in January and June of 2022. Chambers received probation and an 18 month suspended sentence following the July conviction.

Following Sunday’s arrest, Chambers was incarcerated in the Catawba County Detention Facility under $85,000 secured bond. He remained in jail as of earlier today (September 26). A District Court date is scheduled for October 16, he has a Superior Court appearance scheduled on October 26.
