38-year-old Cory Lee Close of 29th Street Place S.W. in Conover was arrested by Newton Police yesterday (February 9) on a felony warrant as a fugitive awaiting extradition to another state. He is wanted by the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office in Portsmouth, Ohio for failure to appear on a charge of receiving stolen property. He has an additional charge pending in Florida.

Following his arrest, Close was jailed in the Catawba County Detention Facility under a $50,000 secured bond. He remained in jail as of this afternoon. An appearance in District Court was scheduled today in Newton.
