Conover Man Arrested for Trafficking & Probation Violations

29-year-old Ian Maurice McMahon of Conover has been arrested by Catawba County Sheriff’s Officers for two felony probation violations. He was also charged with trafficking in opium or heroin, possession of a firearm by a felon, and possession of drug paraphernalia. McMahon is on probation following convictions in Catawba County in June of 2022 for possession of a firearm by a felon and in April of last year for possession of a schedule II controlled substance. He was given a 24-month suspended sentence on the drug charge.

McMahon was jailed on March 27 in the Catawba County Detention Facility with bond set at $35,000. He was scheduled to make a first appearance in District Court on the trafficking charge on March 28. A Superior Court appearance was scheduled for April 1 with another District Court date on April 18, all in Newton.
