43-year-old James Harlen Radford of Warlicks Church Road in Connelly Springs was arrested Wednesday (March 29) by Hickory Police Officers. He’s charged with two counts apiece of second-degree kidnapping and felony probation violation out of county along with single counts of assault by strangulation, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, assault on a female, interfere with emergency communication, simple assault, and communicating threats.

Radford is on probation as a result of a conviction in Catawba County in July, 2020 for felony possession of schedule II controlled substance. He received probation and a 36 month suspended sentence. Following Wednesday’s arrest, Radford was jailed in the Catawba County Detention Facility under $155,000 bond. A District Court appearance was scheduled today (March 30), a Superior Court date is set for June 12.
