Connelly Springs Man Charged With Felony Drug Offense During Traffic Stop

49-year-old Jon Bradley Williams of Knobs Landing in Connelly Springs was arrested Monday (August 7) by Morganton Public Safety Officers. He’s charged with felony possession of schedule II controlled substance. He’s also charged with driving during revocation.

Shortly before 1:30 a.m. Monday, a Public Safety Officer initiated a traffic stop on South Sterling Street in Morganton on a black Ford Mustang due to the fact that its license plate was connected to another vehicle. The driver, Jon Bradley Williams, said his license was suspended.

While the citation was being issued, a K-9 officer conducted a sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of narcotics. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a crystal-like substance. Police reports show the seizure of 17 grams of methamphetamine.

According to the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction Offender Public Information website, Jon Bradley Williams has multiple convictions dating back to 2000 in Burke and Catawba Counties. He’s been convicted of multiple offenses with most being misdemeanors. The most recent conviction was last month in Catawba County for misdemeanor larceny.

Following Monday’s arrest, Williams was brought to the Burke County Jail under $10,000 secured bond. He was not listed as an inmate as of earlier today (August 9). District Court appearances are scheduled for Thursday (August 10) and October 13.
