Connelly Springs Man Charged On Felony Warrants, Deputy Treated After Being Exposed To Seized Substance
32-year-old Jonathan Michael Stanley of Ledford Avenue in Connelly Springs was arrested Friday (March 10) by Burke County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged on a post release warrant for felony contraband to prisoners and on a probation warrant for felony possession of schedule II controlled substance.
On Friday at approximately 3:30 p.m., a Burke County Deputy and Drexel Police Officer conducted a traffic stop near the Drexel Post Office. The passenger of the vehicle, Jonathan Stanley, had valid felony warrants issued by Probation and Parole. He was handcuffed and moved to the front of the patrol vehicle.
A search of Stanley produced a foil packet and drug paraphernalia. The deputy opened the packet to examine the contents at which time the wind blew causing a white crystal substance to blow back into the deputy’s face. While en-route to transport Stanley to the Burke County Jail, the deputy started to feel a tightness in his chest and tingling in his arms and legs.
The deputy immediately notified his supervisor and Narcan was administered to him. The deputy was seen at a local medical facility and was released. The investigation into this incident is ongoing by Drexel Police Department and Burke County Sheriff’s Office. Stanley was placed in the Burke County Jail under $25,000 secured bond on the probation warrant and no bond on the post release warrant. A Superior Court date is set for May 15.
