Connelly Springs Man Charged In Connection To Stolen Vehicles

33-year-old Wesley Allen Chapman of Mount Gilead Church Road in Connelly Springs was arrested Monday (May 6) by Burke County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with single felony counts of larceny of a motor vehicle and permit place to be used to violate chop shop laws along with four felony counts of possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

On Monday, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division was investigating the larceny of a 2007 Ford F-250 from a Connelly Springs business on April 28, 2024. During the investigation, with the assistance of the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, it was discovered that the stolen Ford F-250 was possibly located in the wooded area of 4000 block of Mount Gilead Church Road.

Detectives found the stolen F-250 on an old logging trail. The vehicle had mostly been disassembled, and parts of the vehicle were missing. Detectives also found two other stolen vehicles, along with a stolen tractor, in the vicinity of the F-250. Detectives then obtained a search warrant for a Mount Gilead Church Road residence. During the search, detectives recovered the missing parts of the F-250.

Wesley Allen Chapman was arrested and brought to the Burke County Jail where he was incarcerated under $35,000 secured bond. He remained in jail as of earlier today (May 10). His next District Court date is May 30.
