44-year-old Steven Vernard Patterson of Concord was arrested by Hickory Police Officers. He’s charged with felony flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, hit and run, fail to stop with property damage, resisting a public officer, misdemeanor larceny, indecent exposure, and shoplifting with concealment of goods.

According to court records, an officer attempted to stop the suspect on Highway 70 SE when he allegedly fled, driving more than 15 miles per hour over the speed limit. Records also state that Patterson allegedly ran from police, resulting in the resisting charge. The court records state the larceny charge is the result of the alleged theft of multiple items from Walmart on Highway 70 SE. The items stolen include vagisil wipes and AZO Yeast Plus pills.

Records state the indecent exposure charge was filed due to the fact that the suspect allegedly exposed himself in aisles at Walmart. The hit and run charge was lodged in connection to a collision at 13th Avenue Drive SE in Hickory. Patterson reoprtedly ran into a tree and got out of the vehicle and fled the scene. He was jailed in the Catawba County Detention Facility following the Tuesday (August 25) arrest without bond. A Wednesday (August 26) court date was scheduled.
