Commscope Moves Headquarters To Claremont
CommScope Inc. has relocated its corporate headquarters from Hickory to Claremont. This is according to multiple published reports, which cite a filing the company made with Securities and Exchange Commission. During the third quarter, the company saw its net sales drop by one third from the same period last year, according to data released by the company last week.
CommScope was founded in Hickory. The headquarters is now located off U.S. Highway 70 in Claremont. The move comes in a year when the company also announced a major expansion and entered into economic incentive agreements with Catawba County and the state of North Carolina.
According to a story reported on WHKY on August 28, the Catawba County Board of Commissioners voted to award up to $1.4 million in incentives to support the expansion of fiber optic cable maker CommScope.
Incentives will take the form of tax refunds over the course of six years. To receive the incentives, CommScope will have to invest $60.3 million and create 250 jobs by the end of 2027. The jobs will pay an average wage of a little more than $57,300.
The company is also set to receive up to $1.9 million in state incentives over the next 12 years to support the expansion. CommScope announced the expansion project in March.
